Re:Comments on this Blog
This is a little note to explain something that I’ve noticed two or three negative comments about over the past year. Some have claimed that I am not willing to put up certain kinds of comments on this site and have prejudged me without trying to understand the details behind the situation.
When I first started this blog, I was getting a handful of spam comments mixed with a handful of genuine ones. The spam ones being a comment that says something general an vague and includes a link to another website. This is presumably in hopes of increasing their search engine rankings so that more people will visit their site and buy their well… their whatever they want to sell. (Usually viagra or some sex site these days but sometimes some sort of financing or real estate services elsewhere in the world.)
I have never knowingly approved such comments as I want my blog and my business to retain a certain level of integrity.
But as time has gone on it has gotten more and more difficult to sort through the comments.
At this point I’m getting about 200 comments every day. More than 99% are obviously spam. The other 1%… I’m not always so sure about. Please understand that blogging is NOT my profession. I am a REALTOR and although this blog has become integral to my particular way of doing business, it is not the center of it. It is not worth my time to try to sort through hundreds of junk comments every day in order to find the one or two that are real. I have clients to look after and it’s my duty as a Realtor to make sure they are the center of my attention.
Yes, I have considered removing the comment function of this blog. But I have no idea how to do that and I don’t think I even can with the setup I have. (Again, blogging is not my actual profession.)
